What to do, what to do...
When it comes to finding something
to do on any given night, Montreal is the place to be. There is no denying
the plethora of places to peruse in this fair city, but the problem often
becomes one of where to go. All dressed up and looking for somewhere
(but you're not sure where yet) to strut your stuff? Here are a few of
my favourite haunts...
-
McKibbin's Irish Pub-
(Bishop) Live music nightly, great atmosphere...really terrible stage setup.
Not to worry, those who play there are professional enough to get around
bad acoustics.
-
Hurley's Irish Pub-
(Crescent) (See a pattern developing here?) Much larger than McKibbin's,
two (if not more that I don't know about) performance spaces. They hosted
the Concordia Cabaret last year...must be tolerant folks, eh?
-
Reggie's-
(Mackay) Every University student should know Reggie's...cheap beer, frequent
specials. Very wallet-friendly.
-
Brutopia-
(Crescent) Nice atmosphere, cramped pool table (it adds to the challenge,
I swear...), and extremely friendly waitstaff. Try their raspberry
blonde beer.
-
Jello Bar-
(Ontario) The place to be on Monday nights if you're in a jump jivin'
mood. Grab yourself a "007" martini and let the music carry you back in
time. Or just sit around and watch people in funny clothes. Your call.
